Matt Olsen has been appointed chief security officer for ride-hailing giant Uber Technologies Inc., effective immediately.
Olson is a former general counsel for the U.S. National Security Agency and cofounder of a cybersecurity consulting firm. He was hired last November as a consultant to new Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
Olsen succeeds Joe Sullivan, who was fired last November over his tardy handling of a data breach in 2016. The breach, which Uber didn’t disclose for a year, exposed personal information about 67 million Uber customers and drivers.
