The United Auto Workers union has abandoned its objection to the vote it lost in February to organize Volkswagen AG's assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The UAW had complained to the National Labor Relations Board of "unprecedented political interference" by Tenn. Gov. Bill Haslam, Sen. Bob Corker and others. But President Bob King says the union decided to withdraw its complaint because pursuing the NLRB's "dysfunctional and complex" review process might take years.

The union claims the Haslam administration offered VW $300 million in economic incentives to add production of a new SUV at the Chattanooga plant but only if the UAW's organizing effort was defeated.
