Toyota Motor Corp. is calling back 135,000 cars in the U.S. to replace already-replaced airbags that may not inflate correctly.

The recall concerns passenger-side frontal airbags in 2003-2008 model Corolla small sedans and 2005-2008 model Matrix small hatchbacks.
The airbags were installed during a previous recall to replace explosion-prone Takata airbag inflators. Toyota emphasizes that the replacement units won’t explode. But the company says the airbag itself may not unfold as designed during a deployment, thereby reducing its ability to protect the passenger.
Toyota plans to begin notifying affected owners about the new recall by the end of October.
