Mazda Motor Corp.'s 2014 Mazda3 small car introduces the company's new Mazda Connect feature that permits users to access several smartphone apps while driving.
The system, which Mazda is offering globally, is called MZD Connect in markets outside North America and Japan. It enables drivers to use their smartphones through their car's built-in joystick control or voice recognition system.
Mazda Connect comes with a seven-inch touchscreen that deactivates when the car is in motion.
The system allows access to several Web services, including Harman International Industries Inc.'s Aha infotainment system. Aha provides access via a single interface to more than 40,000 cloud-based audio and information services, including Internet radio, podcasts, audiobooks, Facebook and Twitter feeds and various location-based services.
Mazda says it is the first carmaker to reach a global deal with Aha.
