Sweden’s Innovation Agency has opened a technical center in Gothenburg that will focus on developing artificial intelligence and deep learning technologies and applications.
More than 40 industry and university partners have joined the center, which is dubbed AI Innovation of Sweden. The group includes Geely Group’s CVET mobility unit, Volvo Cars, Volvo Trucks, Veoneer, Zenuity, telecommunications giant Ericcson and Fujitsu electronics.
The partners aim to work together to accelerate the development and commercialization of AI. The center includes a “data factory” and co-location sites to help facilitate collaboration.
AI is expected to be a key enabler for advanced driver-assist and autonomous vehicle technologies. Other applications include product development and digital factories.
Sweden also has launched a free online training course, “Elements of AI,” to encourage students to pursue AI-related careers. Some 130,000 people have registered for the class.
