The two-year plan costs $600 per month, not including taxes and registration costs. No down payment is required. The charge for the all-wheel-drive Momentum package covers insurance, maintenance, concierge services and a 15,000-mile annual allowance.
The higher-end R Design sport package costs $700 per month. Subscribers have the option of switching from one model to the other at the one-year point.
For traditional buyers, the awd XC40 T5 Momentum model will start in the U.S. at just over $35,000. The front-drive T4 model saves $2,000.
Cadillac and Porsche also launched subscription services this year. Those plans are much more expensive than Volvo’s and allow participants to swap several models. Cadillac’s The Book Service cost $1,800 a month. Porsche Passport starts at $2,000 a month.
