Report: Daimler Looks for U.S. Criminal Lawyers for Diesel Execs

Daimler AG is looking for criminal defense attorneys in the U.S. to represent executives that may come under scrutiny in the Dept. of Justice investigation into possible diesel emission cheating by the carmaker, sources tell Bloomberg News.
it isn’t clear if possible targets are executives in the U.S., Germany or both. Bloomberg notes that Daimler cautioned in a regulatory filing in April of possible “enforcement actions” stemming from civil and criminal investigations.
U.S. authorities have been probing possible Daimler manipulation of diesel emission controls for a year. Earlier this month the company abandoned its attempt to certify 2017-model diesels for sale in the U.S.
