Renault, Suppliers Plan $1 Billion Supply Base in Morocco
Renault SA and at least 15 of its key suppliers plan to invest a combined $1 billion to develop a supply network to support the carmaker’s two assembly plants.

The goal is to double local content for Renault’s output to 65% and generate about $2 billion in revenue for the suppliers, according to the news service. It says Morocco expects its annual auto exports to reach $10 billion by 2020.
Renault operates two auto plants in Morocco. It opened a €1 billion factory near Tangier four years ago that makes the Dacia Lodgy MPV, Dokker panel van and Sandero sedan. About 85% of the plant’s output is exported. The company also assembles the Sandaro and Dacia Logan cars at its 53-year-old plant in Casablanca.
