Renault Plans Paris Car-Sharing Service to Rival PSA

Renault SA says it will introduce its own ride-hailing and car-sharing service in Paris in September to rival a similar scheme being launched by PSA Group.
Both companies are vying to fill a gap filled by the departure of Autolib, an electric-car-sharing service that has operated in Paris since 2011. Last month Paris canceled its contract with the company, which is backed by French conglomerate Bollore Group, in a dispute over costs.
Renault plans to offer an array of all-electric Zoe, Twizy, Kango and Master vehicles. The company expects the fleet to grow to 2,000 EVs by the end of 2019. PSA said earlier this week its Free2Move car-sharing service will deploy 500 EVs in Paris this autumn.
In the longer term, Renault says it hopes to partner with Paris in creating an open working group involving multiple cities and companies. The group’s purpose would be to find innovative ways to integrate urban mobility options.
