Renault SA and its Renault Consulting unit have opened the International School of Lean Manufacturing at the carmaker's assembly plant in Flins, France.
The school is intended for upper-level managers and is part of the company's Global Training Center in Flins, which trained 600 people last year. The new school is open to Renault manufacturing executives and non-Renault clients of the consulting unit.
The company says students will learn just-in-time techniques in a simulated workshop environment. The focus is on work flow analysis through operational hands-on experience. Renault says trainees may be challenged to figure out how to double productivity, achieve zero defects and cut inventory and floor space required by 80%.
