Renault SA has begun giving consumers rides in Wuhan, China, in one of its experimental self-driving electric cars, the Shanghai Daily reports.
The vehicle travels along a special 2-km roadway in Wuhan’s Ecological Demonstration City developed by Renault.
The French carmaker is partnering on the project with its Dongfeng Renault Automotive Co. venture and the Wuhan Caidian Ecological Development Group. Renault is providing vehicles and design standards for the site. Dongfeng Renault will handle vehicle maintenance and technical support, according to the report.
