PSA Peugeot Citroen has signed a deal with AllurGroup to produce Peugeot 301 cars in Kostanay, Kazakhstan, from complete knockdown kits beginning in September 2016.
The partnership expects to assemble about 12,000 cars in the first full year at AllurGroup's SaryarkaAvtoProm plant in Kostanay. They say the facility could increase production to 17,000 units if demand permits.
The companies have been collaborating for the past 14 months to complete partially assembled Peugeot 301, 3008 and 508 cars and Partner vans at another AllurGroup factory in Kostanay.
PSA says the car market in Kazakhstan has expanded from 45,000 units in 2011 to 166,000 last year. It forecasts growth to 200,000 units in 2015.
