German prosecutors descended on Opel facilities in Kaiserslautern and Russelsheim today as part of a continuing investigation into diesel emission cheating.
Opel, which confirms the searches, insisting its diesel fully comply with European emission standards, says it is fully cooperating with the probe.
Germany’s Bild notes that investigators have been trying to determine whether Opel used illegal software in the diesel engine management computers of 95,000 of its 2012, 2014 and 2017 model Cascada small convertibles, Insignia midsize sedans and Zafira MPVs.
All three of those models were developed when Opel was owned by General Motors Co. PSA Group acquired Opel in August 2017.
