Nissan Motor Co. reports it has filed a lawsuit against the South Korean government for accusing the carmaker of using a defeat device to manipulate emissions from its diesel-powered Qashqai SUVs.
Earlier this month Korea’s environmental agency fined Nissan 340 million won ($291,000) and ordered the company to recall some 800 imported Qashqai vehicles. Nissan insists the SUVs were not rigged and meet the country’s standards fairly.
Korea points to its tests of 20 diesel models made by several carmakers as justification for the Nissan fine.
