Salt Lake, Utah-based Nikola Motor Co. has selected a site in Buckeye, Ariz., to build a manufacturing facility for its previously announced fuel cell-powered trucks.

The company plans to begin developing the 500-acre property, which is located just west of Phoenix, by the end of 2019. Nikola aims to launch production by 2021.

Nikola says it has received more than 8,000 preorders for the trucks, which are expected to cost as much as $375,000. The company is working with Robert Bosch GmbH on the powertrain, which will team a Nikola-developed fuel cell with Bosch’s eAxle technology.
