Daimler AG’s Moovel Group mobility unit is introducing a smartphone app in the U.S. that will enable users to buy tickets from transit operators.
Dubbed FareShare, the app will include access to discounted fares, offers from third-party providers and other special offers and benefits. Moovel is demonstrating the app at this week’s the Fare Collection/Revenue Management conference in Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to user benefits, Moovel says FareShare will reduce the cost and hassle of issuing and tracking physical tickets. The company plans to market the system to transit agencies, employers, universities and other organizations.
Moovel oversees Daimler’s various new mobility services, including those for car-sharing, parking and digital payment. Last month the carmaker announced plans to merge Moovel with BMW’s mobility services business into a joint venture company.
