McLaren Automotive Ltd. has standardized a host of features and added new options for its 2016 model 650S supercar.
The upgrade includes a heavy dose of carbon fiber, which is now standard on the front splitter, air intakes, mirror housings, side skirts, rear bumper and a variety of interior trim pieces. Those items, which were part of a $22,500 option package in the previous model, increase the new car's base price by a modest $4,000.
A new "enhanced" technology option package costs about $10,000. It will include a back-up camera, power seats, an electrically adjusted steering column, a Meridian audio system, parking assist and a front-axle lift mechanism that raises ride height when driving over obstacles.
Other options include $1,300 for Pirelli P-rated tires and a $2,800 telemetry app that tabulates performance data while running laps on race tracks. Racing seats now are no-cost upgrade.
The new hard-top coupe will be priced at $272,000, while the roadster will start at $287,000. Deliveries will start in December.
