An administrative court in Seoul has suspended a ban by South Korea’s environment ministry that would have blocked Nissan Motor Co. from selling diesel-powered Qashqai crossover vehicles in the country.
The ministry has already collected a 349 million-won ($291,000) fine from Nissan for importing Qashqai models equipped with diesel engines that cut off the emission control system whenever the engine’s intake air temperature reaches 35° C (95° F).
Nissan contends the contested engines meet government regulations. It successfully argued before the Korean court than a ban on imports would cause “irreparable damages," The Nikkei reports.
