Nissan Motor Co. is recalling more than 1.2 million cars and trucks it built for the domestic market during the past 36 months because the vehicles had been inspected by unqualified workers. The company also briefly suspended new-car sales until vehicles could be correctly certified.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism says it isn’t aware of infractions by other manufacturers. But it says it ordered an industrywide review by the end of October to satisfy public concern.
