Hyundai Motor Co. has partnered with Autotalks Ltd., an Israeli developer of computer chips that enable communication between vehicles and the infrastructure.
The carmaker says it invested in the 8-year-old company to speed development of a next-generation chipset for so-called V2X services. Connecting cars enables safer and less congested travel by making vehicles automatically aware of upcoming traffic issues.
Hyundai did not indicate the size of its investment in Autotalks. A source tells Reuters the amount was several million dollars. Autotalks has raised more than $80 million through four rounds of funding since it was founded in 2008.
