Humanetics Buys Austrian Test Equipment Firm
Michigan-based crash test dummy maker Humanetics Innovative Solutions Inc. has acquired DSD GmbH’s Testing subsidiary.
Michigan-based crash test dummy maker Humanetics Innovative Solutions Inc. has acquired DSD GmbH’s Testing subsidiary. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
DSD Testing makes robots and other equipment, software tools to help carmakers develop and test advanced driver-assist systems and autonomous vehicle technologies. The company, which will continue to be led by chief operating officer Markus Schmidl, also manufactures intrusion cylinders, advanced side-impact systems and crash blocks for passive safety testing applications.
DSD GmbH will retain its PC-Crash software business and specialty outdoor testing services. The company was founded in 1990 by Steffan Datentechnik, who will act as an advisor during the transition period.
Humanetics makes biofidelic crash test dummies, simulation software models and custom sensors. The 65-year-old company has 650 employees in 20 facilities worldwide.RELATED CONTENT
