Honda Motor Co. is opening a center in Tokyo to develop artificial intelligence technologies in such areas as speech recognition and software control that can be applied to everything from robotics to self-driving cars.
The facility, which will begin operations later this year, will have a staff of more than 100 researchers, The Nikkei reports. The new lab will joint four other similar Honda centers devoted to basic research: one in Japan, one in Europe and two in the U.S.
