The company offers no timetable for opening such a facility and emphasizes that its immediate goal is to hike sales and better utilize its existing capacity in the country.
Honda began building cars in its second plant, which is located in Rajasthan, in February. It currently has annual capacity to make 240,000 vehicles in India but is operating well below capacity.
The Nikkei points out that Honda aims to sell 6 million vehicles in 2016, including 300,000 in India.
