Honda Motor Co. intends to open an assembly plant in Wuhan, China, in 2019 with initial annual capacity to build 120,000 vehicles, according to media reports.
Last year the company told Bloomberg News it was delaying the $822 million (5.5 billion yuan) project for about one year because of slowing growth in China’s passenger vehicle market. The factory, whose capacity could eventually be doubled, will be operated through Honda’s venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp.
The Wuhan plant will be Honda’s third in China. The complex reportedly will assemble an array of crossovers, sedans and electric cars.
