Honda Motor Co. has filed a U.S. patent application for an air-intake system for a fuel cell-powered motorcycle.

The carmaker, which produces the Clarity fuel cell sedan, has received several patents for fuel cell-related motorcycle systems in recent years. Honda also has a partnership with General Motors Co. to develop and produce next-generation fuel cell stacks in Michigan.

The latest patent describes an airflow system to help prevent dust and water from collecting in the fuel cell system. The hydrogen tank would be located under the rider’s seat.
