General Motors Co. says it will continue to operate its assembly line in Oshawa, Ontario, to 2017. The plant has been scheduled for closure off and on since 2005.
GM says it will spend $9 million (C$12 million) there and at its CAMI Assembly unit in Ingersoll 126 miles away to expand output of Chevrolet Equinox midsize crossover vehicles at the two facilities.
The Oshawa plant also builds the Buick Regal sedan, the Cadillac XTS large luxury sedan and Chevrolet Camaro sport coupe and both previous- and current-generation Chevy Impala large sedans. The factory in Ingersoll also makes the GMC Terrain midsize crossover.
