General Motors Co. has added the Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle to its Maven car- and ride-sharing service in Los Angeles.

The new EV also will be available in Los Angeles through Lyft Inc.’s Express Drive program, which allows Lyft drivers to rent a vehicle for a week to use for ride-hailing. For a limited time, the Maven and Lyft Bolt drivers will be able recharge the vehicles for free at select charging stations in the city.

Maven also plans add the Bolt to its San Francisco and San Diego fleets in coming months. The service now has more than 24,000 members and is available in 17 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

In addition, Maven says it is working with Los Angeles to support Mayor Eric Garcetti's Sustainable City initiative that aims to improve the accessibility, affordability and convenience of urban transportation systems. Such collaborations with other cities and municipalities also are said to be in the works, with the ultimate goal of creating a network of autonomous EVs tied to mass transportation stations.
