GM Forms Team to Lead Self-Driving Vehicle Work
General Motors Co. has named Doug Parks, currently the company’s vice president for global product programs, to become vice president for autonomous technology and vehicle execution, effective Feb. 1.

General Motors Co. has named Doug Parks, currently the company’s vice president for global product programs, to become vice president for autonomous technology and vehicle execution, effective Feb. 1.
Parks, who briefly headed GM’s electric car program in 2012, will report directly to CEO Mary Barra. His new assignment signals a more intensive corporate effort to bring automatic driving and electric vehicle systems to market.
GM also says Sheri Hickok, current chief engineer for next-generation trucks, has been promoted to executive chief engineer for autonomous joint ventures and fleet execution.
Pam Fletcher, executive chief engineer for electric vehicles, is expanding her duties to include strategic planning for autonomous and electric vehicles, according to the company. Hickok and Fletcher also will begin their expanded roles on Feb. 1.
