GM Debuts Midsize Colorado Pickup, Diesel Due in 2015
General Motors Co. publicly introduced its newest truck, the midsize 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, at the Los Angeles auto show on Wednesday and confirms the pickup will be offered with a diesel engine in its second year on the market.

The Colorado will offer two engines at launch next September: a 2.5-liter I-4 that makes 193 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.6-liter V-6 that produces 302 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Both powerplants are teamed with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Four wheel-drive will be optional for the rear-drive truck.
Body configurations include an extended cab with a 6-foot bed, a crew cab with a 5-foot bed and a crew cab with a 6-foot bed. GM says a properly equipped Colorado will be able to haul or tow as much as 6,700 lbs.
When a 2.8-liter I-4 turbodiesel joins the engine options for the 2016 model year, the Colorado will be the only small pickup in the American market with a diesel.
The all-new Colorado shares its platform with GM's small global trucks but has been uniquely designed and engineered for the North American market. GM is expected to unveil a sibling, the GMC Canyon, at the Detroit auto show in January. Both trucks will be built at GM"s factory in Wentzville, Missouri.
