General Motors Co.'s Opel unit reiterates that it intends to shutter its assembly plant in Bochum, Germany, sometime in 2016.
Opel said in June that operations in Bochum would cease after 2016. The move is part of a sweeping restructuring that includes shedding excess factory capacity and stemming years of losses.

The company plans to negotiate closing terms with labor leaders in Bochum in an effort to avoid firing any of the facility's 3,300 employees.
