GeoDigital International Inc. has hired Chris Thibodeau as senior vice president and general manager of the company's autonomous driving business unit. He will oversee the Hamilton, Ont.-based company's "digital roads" program to build an independent mapping platform for self-driving vehicles.
Thibodeau most recently worked for Harman International Industries, where he was vice president and general manager of infotainment for the company's Americas operations.
He previously held executive positions at Ford and General Motors. At Ford, Thibodeau was responsible for global product planning and strategy for electrical user interface and connectivity. At GM, he headed design and development of the electrical architecture and systems engineering for connected vehicles.
GeoDigital says its digital maps have positional accuracy within centimeters. They also include information needed for autonomous vehicles to function, including data on road surface, curvature, lane measurements, barrier and bridge position, and road signage.
