Google Inc. has hired former Airbnb executive Shaun Stewart to help commercialize its self-driving car program.
Stuart succeeds Chris Urmson, who left Google earlier this month. He reports to John Krafcik, who was hired a year ago to head the autonomous car program.
Stewart spent the last two years at Airbnb, where he oversaw and expanded the company's vacation home rental business. He previously was CEO of Jetsetter, an online travel booking company that was acquired by TripAdvisor.com in 2013.
Google, which has about 60 self-driving test vehicles on the road, aims to commercialize the technology by 2020. It announced a development partnership with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in May.
