Ford to Double Silicon Valley Operations
Ford Motor Co. says it is expanding its Palo Alto, Calif., research center to accelerate the development of autonomous vehicle technologies.
Ford Motor Co. says it is expanding its Palo Alto, Calif., research center to accelerate the development of autonomous vehicle technologies.
By the end of 2017, the carmaker expects to have 260 engineers and scientists working in three buildings totaling 180,000 sq ft. The center currently employs 130 people at a single 30,000-sq-ft building.
CEO Mark Fields announced the plans this morning during an interview on CNBC's “Squawk Box” program. A press conference is scheduled for this afternoon.
