Ford Expands Chariot Shuttle Service to Seattle
Ford Motor Co. is extending its Chariot ride-sharing shuttle service to Seattle following pilot programs in San Francisco and Austin, Texas.
Ford Motor Co. is extending its Chariot ride-sharing shuttle service to Seattle following pilot programs in San Francisco and Austin, Texas.
The carmaker’s Smart Mobility LLC unit purchased California-based Chariot Transit Inc. last September. The business now operates 200 Ford Transit shuttle vans in the San Francisco Bay area and 50 in Austin.
Chariot provides transportation for employees of participating local businesses to and from their jobs. Service points include underserved neighborhoods, park-and-ride centers and mass transit stations. Riders pay set fees of about $4 per use. Routes are determined by local demand.
Ford notes that Seattle has the 10th worst traffic among U.S. cities based on a recent study. Los Angeles had the worst of all.
