Ford Motor Co. says it is temporarily delaying dealer deliveries of an undisclosed number of its 2017 model F-150 pickup trucks until it completes tests on their all-new, 10-speed automatic transmissions.
Joe Hinrichs, who heads operations for Ford Americas, tells Automotive News the trucks should be ready to be shipped to dealers before the end of this month.
Ford and General Motors Co. co-developed the new rear-drive gearbox. AN says the transmission improves the U.S. fuel economy rating of an F-150 equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine by 1 mpg.
