Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Ford are offering sales incentives specifically for current Volkswagen customers in Europe in a bid to lure owners disgruntled by VW's diesel emission test scandal.
FCA's incentives are available only in Italy. Ford's discounts apply in several European countries, including the region's five largest markets, The Wall Street Journal reports. Both programs are for trade-in VW gasoline and diesel models.
Ford's incentives range between €750 and €1,750 and apply to all model years. The Journal says FCA's incentives are between €500 and €1,500. Analysts point out it is unusual for carmakers to use incentives to target customers from a single competitor.
