Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has gone nationwide with a program aimed at reducing employee turnover at its dealerships by offering free tuition at a non-profit college.

Dubbed Degrees@Work, the program is co-funded by FCA and participating dealers, who pay a flat monthly fee. The carmaker began testing the plan last May at 356 of its dealerships in the southeastern U.S.

Students enroll at Strayer University, a private accredited university in Washington, D.C., that offers courses online and at 77 physical campuses. The program enables students to pursue an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree.

When it launched the pilot program, FCA told Automotive News that the annual turnover rate among its dealership sales force is about 50%—relatively low by industry standards, according to the National Automobile Dealers Assn.
