France’s Faurecia SA is investing $60 million to build an assembly plant for interior components in Blue Springs, Mo.

Located near Kansas City, the 250,000-sq-ft facility will produce door and instrument panel modules. The plant is expected to open later this year and eventually employ 300 workers, according to media reports.

Faurecia says it chose the location for its proximity to unspecified customers. Both Ford and General Motors have assembly plants in Kansas City.

The Kansas City plant will be Faurecia’s third facility in Missouri and 48th in North America, where it reported sales of about $5.8 billion in 2016. Faurecia has 330 facilities in 34 countries.
