Exide Technologies Inc. has disclosed that the European Union is investigating allegations that the battery maker's Spain unit was involved in anticompetitive behavior related to the purchasing practices of several unidentified European lead recyclers.
The European Commission said last September it had raided the facilities of several buyers of scrap lead and batteries for recycling. Regulators notified Exide in May that it was being investigated, according to the company.
