China’s largest ride-hailing service, DiDi Chuxing Technology Co., is expanding to enable ride-sharing customers to connect with public transportation options.
DiDi says it is launching the service in nearly 100 cities in China, including Beijing and Shanghai. The company’s app will present users with several options to take them to their destination with routes that combine shared car rides with buses, subways and bike sharing.
For example, customers could use a shared-ride service to transport them from one public transit hub to another. DiDi says the scheme should help reduce traffic congestion. The company claims more than 450 customers, including 2.4 million per day who uses its ride pooling DiDi Express service.
