China’s DiDi Chuxing Technology Co. has begun offering its ride-hailing service in Chile and Colombia as it pushes into Latin America.

The Beijing-based company tells Reuters it plans to add a taxi-hailing service in Columbia later this year. Reuters said in February that DiDi also was recruiting business managers in Peru.

The news service says DiDi’s push into Latin America aims to compete with U.S.-based rival Uber Technologies Inc. DiDi won that contest in China in 2016, when it acquired Uber’s business there.
