CR Declares Tesla EV “Best Overall” Car

Last year Consumer Reports gave Tesla Motors Inc.'s Model S electric sedan the magazine's highest car test score ever 99 out of a possible 100.
Now CR has honored the $89,700 version of the car it tested as "best overall" for 2014, marking the first time an American vehicle has captured that title.
The magazine describes the Model S as a "technological tour de force" that hints at a future in which cars and computers can "coexist in seamless harmony." Jake Fisher, who heads CR's car testing operations, tells Bloomberg News the car is "truly groundbreaking."
The magazine's "top picks" this year in specific segments are:
- Compact car - Subaru Impreza
- Midsize sedan - Honda Accord
- Luxury car - Audi A6
- Sport sedan - BMW 328i
- Minivan - Honda Odyssey
- "Green" car - Toyota Prius
- Small SUV - Subaru Forester
- Midsize SUV - Hyundai Santa Fe
- Pickup truck - Ram 1500
