Continental AG is finalizing separate partnerships with Google and IBM to develop technologies for autonomous vehicles, according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The German newspaper cites unidentified sources who say Conti will announce the two alliances next month at the Frankfurt auto show.
Conti has been developing autonomous driving systems for 14 years. Last year it completed more than 15,000 miles of automated driving on public roads, mainly in Nevada. In February the company announced a two-year partnership with BMW AG to develop a high-speed "electronic co-pilot" that could be used on highly automated highways in Europe.
Reuters notes that Conti also has partnered with Cisco Systems Inc. on automated vehicles and methods of transferring and managing the car-to-car transfer of data.
