Chrysler Group LLC has spent $7 million to buy a 530-acre proving ground near Naples, Fla., that was once owned by Ford Motor Co.
The facility, which contains six miles of test track, was acquired by Harley-Davidson Inc. in 2002. The motorcycle maker will continue to use part of the facility under a lease-back arrangement.
Chrysler owns a text track in Arizona. The company says the Florida facility will expand its ability to conduct warm-weather handling tests during the winter.
