China's BYD Ltd. Co. has won the 2013 Crash Test Facility of the Year award from Automotive Testing Technology International magazine.

The award recognizes BYD's 10-year-old test center in Pingshan, Shenzhen, China, for its specialized crash-testing equipment and the accuracy of its results.

The British magazine notes that the $100 million facility has helped BYD produce vehicles such as the S6 SUV and F5 Suri sedan. Both vehicles earned a top five-star safety rating in C-NCAP testing China's equivalent of Euro-NCAP.
