China carmaker JAC Motors may choose Bulgaria for a factory to make electric cars and buses for the European market, according to Bulgaria’s economy ministry.
JAC, also known as Anhui Jianghuan Automobile Co., makes a broad range of cars, SUVs, vans, pickup trucks and commercial light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks. The company operates sales offices in China, Russia and Vietnam and 19 overseas facilities that assemble vehicles from kits, according to its web site.
Reuters says Bulgaria, the EU’s poorest member, is eager to build a local auto industry. China’s Great Wall Automobile Holding Co. opened its first European factory in Lovech, Bulgaria, four years ago as a joint venture with local producer Litex Motors.
