China to Probe VW Diesel Emission Compliance
China has joined Europe, Japan and the U.S. in launching its own investigation into whether Volkswagen sold vehicles in the country powered by diesel engines rigged with software to cheat emissions standards, Bloomberg News reports.

China has joined Europe, Japan and the U.S. in launching its own investigation into whether Volkswagen sold vehicles in the country powered by diesel engines rigged with software to cheat emissions standards, Bloomberg News reports.
China's environmental ministry can it will probe both locally build and imported diesel models, even though the agency says none of the 11 million affected vehicles announced by VW were produced in China. The ministry estimates 1,900 targeted vehicles have been imported.
VW has said it will recall about 2,000 imported diesels to correct their cheater software. The company emphasizes that none of the cars was sold by its ventures with China FAW Group Corp. or SAIC Motor Corp.
