The latest fundraising round was led by Daimler and includes BMW i Ventures, Linse Capital, Rho Capital Partners and Braemar Energy Ventures. The company says Axel Harries, who heads Daimler’s new Connected, Autonomous, Sharing & Services, and Electric Drive unit, has joined its board.
California-based ChargePoint describes itself as the world’s largest EV charging network. The company, which currently operates about 33,000 charging ports in North America, did not say when it will begin installing similar facilities in Europe.
Other companies have already installed about 90,000 charge points in Europe, including 1,500 fast-charge facilities, according to the Financial Times. The newspaper says about 100,000 EVs were sold in Europe in 2016.
