Daimler AG’s car2go car-sharing business is adding the Mercedes-Benz CLA sports sedan and GLA compact crossover vehicle to its rental fleets in the U.S. and Canada.
The vehicles are expected to be available in most of the North American cities car2go operates in by the end of the year. The rollout starts this week in four U.S. cities (Austin, Tex; Portland, Ore.; Seattle, Wash.; and Washington, D.C.), followed early next month in Toronto and Vancouver.
The 2017-model Mercedes vehicles join the smart ForTwo in car2go’s North American lineup. The service, which was launched in 2009, claims to be the largest car-sharing business in the world with some 2.2 million members—including 800,000 in the U.S. and Canada.
Members can rent car2go vehicles by the hour or day. Fees include fuel, parking, maintenance and insurance costs.
