California Delays Ruling on VW Diesel Fixes for Three Weeks
The California Air Resources Board says it won’t decide until Jan. 14 whether to accept Volkswagen AG’s proposed repairs to bring 482,000 diesel-powered cars in the state into emission compliance.

The California Air Resources Board says it won’t decide until Jan. 14 whether to accept Volkswagen AG’s proposed repairs to bring 482,000 diesel-powered cars in the state into emission compliance.
VW submitted a repair proposal on Nov. 20 but amended the plan last week. CARB had expected to make a decision before the end of this year that affects VW brand Beetle, Golf, Jetta and Passat models equipped with 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesels sold in 2009-2015.
The state and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency await a separate VW proposal in February to recall about 85,000 vehicles in the U.S. fitted with 3.0-liter V-6 diesels to fix a separate emission control problem. VW hasn’t been certified to sell new vehicles with either engine until the plans are approved.
